We are acting in different ways towards children's protection:
Prevent family breakdown and the placement of children to shelter homes: TARA Outreach Center does prevention work with families from an extremely vulnerable community in order to identify their difficulties and offer suitable support solutions. We ensure educational support for children to reduce the risk of dropping out of school and becoming victims of exploitation.
Protect, educate and foster a family environment for children placed in our homes: when a child is abused or seriously neglected, rehabilitation is necessary.TARA welcomes such children and provides them quality education in English, extra-curricular activities helping them to rebuild, individual attention, medical care as well as a healthy and varied diet.
The Juvenile Justice Act provides a legal framework for the rights of children in India. Children are placed in our homes by court order. We make sure that all children know and understand their rights and duties. Educators, employees and volunteers are trained and must also follow our Child Protection Charter.
Since 2016, TARA has been working to measure the positive impacts of its actions on the lives of children. For example, all children are placed in quality English Medium schools. 95% of the children scored at least the average at school. 93% children at TARA have a healthy body mass index.
